Percutaneous Nephrostomy
Percutaneous nephrostomy (PCN) is an image-guided procedure that drains an obstructed kidney through a small flank tract. The Neimor UroPath™ PCNL/PCN set bundles every component a urologist or interventional radiologist needs for both diagnostic nephrostomy and stone access (PCNL).
What is in the set
- Access needle — 18 G / 21 G chiba-style for collecting system puncture
- Guidewire — hydrophilic for navigation, super-stiff for tract anchoring
- Serial dilators — Amplatz or balloon dilation depending on configuration
- Access sheath — to maintain working channel
- Drainage catheter — pigtail nephrostomy tube for PCN
PCN vs PCNL
PCN is drainage only; PCNL adds nephroscopy and stone fragmentation through the same tract. The same Neimor set can be used for both, simply by selecting the appropriate sheath size.
Tract size
Standard PCNL: 24–30 Fr. Mini-PCNL: 14–20 Fr. Micro-PCNL: ≤14 Fr. UroPath™ is available across all three configurations.
